Provisional driving licence

To get behind the steering wheel you need to be at least 17 years old and have a PROVISIONAL DRIVING LICENCE.

If you haven't got one yet you can apply online now.
Alternatively you can pick up an application form from a Post Office.
You will need to attach a payment of £50.

Normally it takes about 2 weeks for your licence to arrive.

Now that you're in possession of your Provisional Licence you can drive on British roads (except motorways) as long as your car displays L plates and you are accompanied by someone of minimum 21 years of age and has held their full licence for at least 3 years.
